Arsenal need to get back to winning ways when we take on Wolves at Molineux on Wednesday night. Here is the side Gooner Mac thinks Unai Emery will select for the game:
Goalkeeper: Bernd Leno was unfortunate to concede three goals against Crystal Palace at the weekend and he made a couple of excellent saves so the German will keep his place ahead of Petr Cech tomorrow evening.
Defence: Arsenal will welcome Sokratis back into the squad after he completed a two-match domestic suspension and the Greek international should be given an immediate recall by Emery as we’ve sorely missed him. Shkodran Mustafi should make way after his horror-show against Palace and it will be a relief not to see him in the starting eleven.
Nacho Monreal is also pushing for a recall after being named on the bench against Palace on Sunday so Dinos Mavropanos is set to make way after a disappointing performance at the weekend. Laurent Koscielny should continue to marshal the back three and Arsenal will look a lot more solid on paper with him alongside Sokratis and Monreal again.
Midfield: Granit Xhaka will be assessed after missing the Palace game with a minor hip injury but the Swiss international is expected to be passed fit to start in the middle of the park.
His return will be a welcome boost as Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury but Lucas Torreira is pushing for a recall after not being risked from the start on Sunday due to a niggling groin problem.
Mohamed Elneny should drop out as he was poor at the weekend and Matteo Guendouzi’s disappointing form continued with another below par display against Palace so I expect the youngster to make way at Wolves.
Sead Kolasinac should continue in the left wing-back position for Arsenal while Ainsley Maitland-Niles is expected to be recalled after Carl Jenkinson was handed a surprise start on Sunday afternoon.
Attack: Alexandre Lacazette worked hard against Palace and Emery may decide to only deploy one of his strikers away to a tough Wolves side so the Frenchman may be given a breather.
Mesut Ozil wasn’t at his best overall against Crystal Palace but he scored a lovely goal and Arsenal badly need a win tomorrow night so I think we’ll see the German playmaker keep his place against Wolves.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a pretty quiet game on Sunday but he still popped up with a superb strike and it’s his threat in front of goal that means he’ll probably get the nod over Lacazette if Emery goes with one up top.
Alex Iwobi made a difference after coming off the bench at half-time against Palace and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start tomorrow while Henrikh Mkhitaryan is also pushing for a recall. However, Denis Suarez misses out once again through injury.
Here is how I think we’ll see Arsenal line-up:
