The English Premier League, also known as EPL, is the most exciting and successful league in the world. It has held its top position for several years.

The EPL has recently dominated leagues worldwide, even in sports betting. This domination comes in the form of the matches, continental trophies, fanbase, quality players, number of entertaining matches, derbies, revenue, etc.

While there are many ways in which we can compare the English Premiership League with the rest of the leagues globally, we have picked a few essential aspects.

EPL Vs. Other Leagues in the World

These are the major notable differences among these leagues:

The Suspense

In most other leagues, the suspense is reduced to 2 or 3 clubs each year. There are rarely any big surprises, especially in other top 4 European Leagues. We always find their top teams in the Champions League.

However, It’s quite the opposite in the Premier League; after having long been limited to a Big Four (Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea), the EPL is now full of suspense and can hold huge surprises.

The best proof is Leicester’s victory in 2016, which is considered one of the most remarkable feats in the sport’s history, as the club was struggling for survival the previous year! Difficult to do better in terms of suspense.

TV Rights

The EPL TV rights value is huge – it has a 3-year league broadcasting deal of £9.3bn+, which means each EPL team gets approximately £123m each season. Comparing it with other European top leagues, Ligue 1 has just £27m, La Liga has £56m, Serie A has £52m, and Bundesliga has £52m. The difference is so big that the smallest teams in EPL can actually get more cash than or be on par with the top teams in the competing leagues.

The Stars

Even though La Liga has a little less money, Spain has had a lot more stars than England over the years, but it’s been slowly changing for the last two seasons, as big stars are moving to the EPL. Of the Ballon d’Or winners between 2006 and 2022, many of the players played in La Liga against only 1 in the Premier League, and it’s none other than Cristiano Ronaldo!

For nearly 50 years, Michael Owen has been the only player to win the Ballon d’Or while playing in the Premier League.

The Transfer Window

The summer of 2016 was the summer of all records for the EPL transfer window. Indeed, the arrival of Pogba at Manchester United for €110m meant the Premier League spent a total of €1.4 billion, i.e., three times more than La Liga, the league’s closest rival in terms of money spent on transfers (only spent €463m in 2016).

The Value of the Players in the Premier League

The Premier League is not only the best football league globally, but it’s also home to the most prominent players in the sport. The English league has one of the most valuable players on the planet, and one of them reaches the figure of 100 million euros.

The English teams establish themselves as the best in Europe for their quality and physique, allowing their local league to stand out above all others, more from the number of good teams participating in it.

An incredible repertoire of leading clubs can be seen in this European league, such as Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester, Tottenham, and Arsenal, among many others. Based on this competitiveness, the EPL presents its players as the best globally, both in terms of game skill and economically, unlike what happens with other leagues where only 2 or 3 teams at most stand out.
