Liverpool In Pole Position To Land €40m Man Utd Target As Owners Prepare To Sell

Liverpool appear to be in pole position to land Manchester United target Radja Nainggolan with Roma ready to cash-in on the midfielder for around €40m.

As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Liverpool are linked with Radja Nainggolan…..

Liverpool appear to be in pole position to land Manchester United target Radja Nainggolan with Roma ready to cash-in on the midfielder for around €40m this summer, according to reports.

The 26-year-old has been in impressive form for Roma since joining the club on an initial six-month loan deal in January 2014 following a five-year stay at Cagliari.

Nainggolan made a permanent switch to the Stadio Olimpico last summer but Cagliari retained 50% of his ownership rights and with Roma unable to afford to buy out the remaining stake, it seems the midfielder is set for a move at the end of the season.

Belgian journalists Kristof Terreur claims that Cagliari and Roma are ready to cash-in on their investment this summer but the co-owners will demand a fee of at least €40m (£29m) for his signature.

“Radja Nainggolan is for sale, as AS Roma can’t afford a permanent move.”

“Cagliari and Roma, co-owners, hope to get at least £29m.” Terreur is quoted as saying by the Daily Star

This news has supposedly alerted Liverpool with the Daily Star claiming that the Merseysiders are now in pole position to sign the Belgian international as long as they are prepared to meet the asking price.

The newspaper also suggests that Manchester United shown a keen interest in the past but it remains to be seen whether Louis van Gaal will renew his interest now that Roma and Calgiari are ready to sell.

If the Dutchman turns his focus to other targets, then it will leave Liverpool in the clear to sign Nainggolan if the player opts to come to the Premier League this summer.

With long-serving skipper Steven Gerrard set to leave at the end of the season, Brendan Rodgers is on the look-out for midfield reinforcements and Nainggolan would be an exciting addition at Anfield.

He’s capable of playing in the holding role, as a box-to-box midfielder or in a more attacking position so he’d certainly give Rodgers plenty of options if he does head for Anfield, but we’ll have to wait and see if they’re able to strike a deal for his signature this summer.
