[Video Goals] Liverpool 1-1 FC Sion: Lallana Strike Not Enough As Reds Held

By on October 1, 2015

Liverpool were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at home to FC Sion in the Europa League at Anfield on Thursday night.

The Reds got off to the perfect start when Adam Lallana swept home from close range to give Liverpool the lead in the 4th minute after some excellent work from Divock Origi.

However, FC Sion equalised shortly after Ebenezer Assifuah got behind the defence to slot home past Simon Mignolet for 1-1 in the 17th minute.

Liverpool dominated from then on but couldn’t find a second goal so the game ended 1-1 and the Anfield crowd made their feelings known after booing the players off at full time.

The result leaves Liverpool second in Group B on two points and adds further pressure to the shoulders of boss Brendan Rodgers ahead of a crucial merseyside derby on Sunday.
