By on January 28, 2017

Danny Welbeck scored twice and Theo Walcott grabbed a hat-trick as Arsenal booked their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup thanks to a resounding 5-0 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s tonight.

It was a dream comeback for Welbeck – who made his first start of the season – as he opened the scoring in the 15th minute when he dinked home a superb finish after being found by a clever pass from Lucas Perez.

Welbeck made it 2-0 less than 10 minutes later as he raced on to a lovely long pass from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, took one touch before slotting home through the keepers legs in the 22nd minute.

The England international then created the third as Welbeck latched on to a Perez pass before cutting back for Walcott who prodded home from close range for 3-0 in the 35th minute.

Alexis Sanchez came off the bench to help add some gloss to the scoreline as he teed-up Walcott to sweep home our fourth midway through the second half before the Chilean then set-up Theo again to complete his hat-trick late on as we eased in to the fifth round with a convincing 5-0 win at St Mary’s.
