Liverpool will be looking to cement their position in the top four when they take on Burnley at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.

The Reds boss confirmed that skipper Jordan Henderson is still unavailable as the midfielder continues to recover from a foot injury that’s kept him out for the past two games.

In a double blow, Daniel Sturridge is also still out as the striker has not recovered from a hip injury that he picked up last month and forced him out of recent games with Leicester City and Arsenal.

Klopp also revealed a fresh injury blow with the news that Roberto Firmino has been unable to train this week after picking up a knock during the 3-1 win over the Gunners last weekend.

The Brazilian international will be assessed over the next 24 hours but as of now Firmino is considered as a major doubt for the visit of Burnley to Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds boss told Liverpoolfc.com:

“Unfortunately, Roberto Firmino has struggled a little bit. He felt something after the game and until now this week, he couldn’t train. We need to wait a little bit more and then we will see.”

There was some more positive news on the fitness of Dejan Lovren as the centre-back is now considered fit and available for selection following over a month out with a knee injury.

However, Klopp says he still hasn’t decided whether the Croatian international is ready to make his first team comeback and hinted that Ragnar Klavan could continue alongside Joel Matip this weekend after impressing during the win over Arsenal.
