Arsenal Transfer Gossip: Nuri Sahin…. Fabregas’s replacement?

By on May 1, 2011

As you may now, yesterday, Borussia Dortmund were crowned Bundesliga champions for the seventh time in their history after defeating Nurnberg 2-0.

Dortmund fully deserved the title, with a string of impressive performances and what impressed the most was the maturity and mentality of such a young squad and how consistent they were throughout the season, despite their youthfulness. One player in particular that I was impressed with, is a player by the name of Nuri Sahin.

Nuri Sahin is a German-born Turkish international, who is in my opinion, the best player this season in the Bundesliga. Nuri Sahin is a midfielder who plays as a playmaker and who has incredible vision, great skill with a great passing range and technique. Nuri Sahin said before the season begun, that he will be better than Bastian Schwignsteiger, who was up until this season, the best midfielder in Germany and one of the best in the world. Nuri Sahin was laughed at, but he has certainly stood by his word, and lightened up the Bundesliga with incredible performances and he is one of the main reasons for Dortmund’s successful campaign.

Sahin has made 30 appearances so far, garnering 6 goals and 8 assists. His performances have not gone unnoticed, as many clubs are hovering around for him from the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and of course the Gunners. Nuri Sahin reminds me so much of current Arsenal skipper and talisman, Cesc Fabregas, in terms of their playing style. If and only if, Fabregas leaves this summer, then I suggest that Wenger should take a look at Sahin. Not only because he’s similar to Fabregas in terms of playing style and age, but because he has a buyout clause of 6 million pounds, which means that he’s a bargain signing and an absolute steal.

With his talent and low value, Sahin will have plenty of suitors and especially as he reportedly refused to sign a new contract. I would love to see Sahin in an Arsenal shirt, but that’s only if Fabregas leaves. But if you ask me who would I choose between the two, I would pick Cesc Fabregas in a heartbeat.

Nuri Sahin…. Cesc’s replacement?

Here’s a video displaying Sahin’s talent:

What do you think fellow Gooners? Do you want to see Sahin in an Arsenal shirt next season? Is he a suitable replacement to Fabregas IF he leaves? If not, who do you suggest?

Cheers and take care everyone,

Omar

Wow, I like to have players like Dzudszak, Falcao, De Rossim etc. That’s a long shot in my opinion, but I think Wenger might have a look at them especially Falcao and Dzudszak, they have been top-class this season.

      Cheers and take care,

wenger wont sell fabregas as he has a pretty long contract still, but arshavin or nasri are more likely to leave so why not have someone like sahin play WITH fabregas, that sounds awesome.

That’ll be great as well, but I do hope they both stay and besides Sahin’s style is too similar to Fabregas’s in my opinion, so his only chance of coming is if Fabregas leaves, but again that’s my opinion.

Let’s see what Wenger does this summer.

      Cheers and take care,

Why’d he want to come here? Dortmund are champions of the bundesliga, will be in the champions league next season, have a young squad that can only get better, there time is now they could be a comming force in Europe.

    Why leave that?

I know it’s weird and strange, but he has reportedly rejected a new contract and with a buy-out clause of 6 million pounds, he’s bound to leave unless Klopp convinces him otherwise.

He looks good, but we haven’t won anything since we decided to build the side around fabregas – wouldn’t this just lead to more of the same? Imo tactical changes are needed badly. The players have done brilliantly this season overall imo, but the defence is under far too much pressure all the time.

I’d love to see him in the Arsenal squad, looks like a great player and for 6M, that is a steal, but you never know what Wenger will do..

transfermarkt.co.uk states that Nurin market value is GBP 15.4 Million with his contract expiring on 2013.
How does this tally with the 6 Million buyout clause ?

    • Omar

      May 1, 2011 at 7:32 pm

That’s his value alright, I didn’t say he was leaving on a free transfer. In his contract, Sahin has a buyout clause of around 6 million pounds which is the reason why Dortmund are fighting to convince to sign a new contract. You’re right, his current contract is to 2013, but in that contract there was a clause inserted, stating that he can leave for around 6 million pounds, if a club tables that amount.

      I hope you understand now.

      Cheers and take care,

If Fabregas goes Arsenal will get around£40,000,000 I say revamp the rest of the squad with a GK, CD, Winger and Striker if you saw today’s match you would have seen we do NOT need another CM!!!!

I agree with you on that, Sczeszny has been excellent this season in my opinion, and it would be very, very harsh on him if Wenger brings another goalkeeper.

We don’t need a cm. If cesc leaves, then 442. Buy another cf tht stays in the box nd supports rvp, wilsh nf nasri in the middle but a class winger or Rambo nd wilshere in middle. Maybe cavani, he’s perfect, someone like tht. No gk, maybe another cb, cahill or sakho, but koscielny was gd today.

Sell 52, denilson diaby rosicky almunia sqallci eboue. We could rack up over 60 mill + if we sell cesc over 100 mill.

We have Ramsey to take over from Cesc, and i dont think that he will start ahead of Wilshere… so hes good but not proper for us.
