Arsenal Transfer News: Wenger Lines Up £25m Alternative

By on November 18, 2011

It appears Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is once again scouring the French market for talent, after being credited with interest in Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue.

Recent reports have linked the Gunners with a move for the £10m rated defensive midfielder and it’s thought Wenger has been forced to look elsewhere after being priced out of a move for top target Yann M’Vila, who Rennes value at over £25m and Manchester City are also thought to have entered the race.

So instead of entering a bidding war with the richest club in the world, Arsenal have identified a cheaper alternative in 23-year-old Capoue. He stands at 6ft 2 inches and is a dominant force in the centre of the park, and PSG and Italian side Lazio are also thought to be tracking him.
