Arsenal Transfer News: Youngster Looking For “Ideal” Move

Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone has expressed his desire to leave the club on loan with a view to a permanent move away from the Emirates.

After Lukasz Fabianski stated his desire to leave the club if he could not become number one keeper (which he never will as long as we have Szczesny), Vito Mannone has told the Sun newspaper that he wants a move away from the Emirates. The Italian stopper said:

“The ideal situation would be to let me go on loan and then make it permanent.”

Obviously, this isn’t an ideal situation but maybe Mannone has a point. At 23 years old he’s past being considered a young player and someone who has been capped at Italy Under-21 level may feel they deserved some matches, especially considering that in the five Premier League (including an inspirational showing away at Fulham) and three Champions League matches he started in during 2009/10, Arsenal didn’t lose a single game – which is definitely not something Fabianski can say.

And yet, he didn’t play a minute for Arsenal last season and has only featured for the reserves this year; maybe this is a case of Arsenal choosing which to sell and which to keep, with the promise of playing more football.
