With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Arsenal have made a bid for Paulinho.
Arsenal have submitted a £9m offer for Corinthians midfielder Paulinho, according to the Daily Mail.
Having already signed Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski this summer, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger remains hopeful of making further additions to his squad with a midfielder thought to be a priority for the Frenchman.
The Mail claim that Wenger has identified Paulinho as a potential signing and has now made a £9m bid for his services.
However, Arsenal may struggle to persuade the Brazilians in to selling, with chairman Mario Gobbi insisting Paulinho will not be sold this summer while the player himself has insisted he wants to stay at Corinthians and reward the faith the club has shown in him.
Being quizzed on reported interest from Inter Milan, Paulinho is quoting as saying by ESPN:
“Corinthians are doing everything they can to keep me,”
“I want to remain here and I hope that my future is resolved as soon as possible so that I can play without having any distractions.
“Inter have not spoken directly with me but they have spoken to my representatives. I want to reward Corinthians for their willingness to keep me.
“Wherever I go, I will nevertheless win. It’s not a money issue, I just want to play football.”
The attack-minded midfielder has three years to run on his current contract having been signed from lower league club Bragantino two years ago. The talented 23-year-old has gone on to become one of the most accomplished midfielders in the Brazilian top flight, helping Corinthians win their first ever Copa Libertadores title last season.

I will be pleased to see any top player come and we really do need to get our defence sorted with a couple of new signings.
yes bring in people that score goals we have a lot of chances not enough finishers or anyone with enough physical presence in the box
What can i say , we need players but i don’t know too much about this guy, if Arsene thinks he’s got let’s run with it, it’s now time to escort mr Walcott up to Liverpool ,he has only shined in max 15 games in all the time he has been there ,if he is being arkward let him go …
9million? The other week we didn’t have no money APPARENTLY why bid on him wen wenger could have used 9million on affellay oh and 6mil for niang actually drop affellay ad that 6 to 9mil if I’m not mistaken that equals= yann mvila
pointless article read his quotes he aint coming
Any good news from Wenger about the Mid field creativity is more than welcome because he seems to be a mid-field prof.Paulinho’s physical appearance reminds me of our glorious Gelberto with his midfield maestro. In addition, i would very much like to see a helping hand extended towards Bacary Sagna’s position.Whenever he is injured there’s normally a crisis which culminates into our team socking in so many goals. Our policy should be to score as much s possible and minimize conceding incredibly.A gooner for life.
am not familiar with th Paulinho in term of his ability on the pitch, the only thing is we are supposing to strengthern our sqd in order to compete for tittles, if that the case and our sctng teams proved that he is good let us bring the guy and wait to see the so called samba style. missing our engine g silva.
Never seen him play ope he is gud to fit in the emirates atmosphere.love u all arsenal fans n the management at large.
Never seen him play ope he is gud to fit in the emirates atmosphere.
Do the buisiness and stop adentify good player for another club to buy. UP GUNNER
Helo’gooners why not wenger 2get afelay, paulinho if walcot goes no big deal.
ARSENE !!! Stop identifying good players for ur enemies, they are watching, listening and looking. Go for him now or loose him to your rivals.
where does arsenal come in? in the quotes i am not seeing anything related to arsenal but intermilan!
Paulihno is a good and highly prolific attacking midfield which will adapt to EPL in no distance time. Bringing him to arsenal will help boost the attacking option as RVP is leaving. Paulihno will be a very good signing for arsenal.
i don’t know d player, but from what i’m hearing about him, he can be a gud signing 4 arsenal. wenger should go 4 him n niang as well as m’vila
From what i heard, he has played just once for the national team, don’t you think a work permit would b needed for him to play for arsenal? This means sendin him out on loan after signing him
NEVER heard of him, could be a good addition to the squad especially with the uncertainty surrounding Walcott’s future @ Arsenal. However we do need defensive reinforcements rather than attacking ones given our full-back crisis last season and our leaky defence. IF we buy him can only see him as a squad player…
i think, atleast this season we can have a reliable squad for a big coveted cup. let us bring not a couple of choice rather many options
we need good defenders….
the only thing wenger can do now is just to land on any player,he should seek for the defenders,at the side of bacry sagna and gibbs, because when any of the two goes for injury there are no players who can take up these positions, and should look for good finishing striker this summer.
Let Wenga bring in players like frei at fulham who can replace the place of walcot if he going away because frei is a very Gud player with his dribling skills and the speed is the same of walcot instead of paulinho, wenger do not disappoint fans again this season, sign using comments from the fans
becos they see areas of your weaknesses as a coach aim for trophies.
