Liverpool Transfer News: Rodgers Targets Dutch Stopper

By on July 25, 2012

With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Liverpool are linked with Dorus de Vries.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is lining up a surprise move for Wolves goalkeeper Dorus de Vries, according to Sky Sports News.

The new Reds supremo worked with De Vries at Swansea, where the Dutch stopper made 178 appearances during his four years at the club before making a free transfer move to Wolves in 2011.

However, the 31-year-old has endured a frustrating time at Molineux, making only 4 appearances as the club were resigned to the championship last season, and Sky Sports report that Rodgers is keen to offer him an escape route to Anfield.

The Northern Irishman wants to link up with De Vries once again and is ready to make an official approach to Wolves over his availability. Alexander Doni and Brad Jones are both expected to leave Merseyside this summer, so Rodgers is on the look out for a reliable number two for Pepe Reina and it seems De Vries is the man he wants.

Just because we have bought Borini and are after Allen, doesn’t mean we are only targeting players that Brendan Rodgers had worked with previously….

WTF are you on about ?? both Doni and Jones are OLDER than Pepe you muppet. Reina won’t go and why would we want to seel one of the best keepers in the world but if one of the older guys leaves we do need cover, nothing wrong with that.

It would have to depend on the price but realistically, you’d want £5m for him which would represent good business for a guy we got for free just one season ago.

Yeah, you can say he’s not worth £5m or whatever amount, but we don’t need to sell and with our first choice keeper out until at least October, aren’t really in a position to ship him so it would have to be an inflated price,

Although Pepe Reina is an experience goal keeper. But is too making errors, that is the problem of Reina. The errors are more than the saves he do. They should live all the keepers in the team.

Reina must go. He is not a good goalie. He is very panicky and can only save easy shots that come straight to him. If any team wants to beat Liverpool, play very high tempo attacks during added time, half or full time. Cross the ball at high tempo from left to right ,then right to left , reina will be very confused and panicky ,fires your shot to score . I have watched this over and over. Very sickening.
