Arsenal and Manchester United are stepping up their interest in Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama with scouts due to watch him on Wednesday night, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson have both been keeping tabs on the £7m-rated midfielder in recent weeks after sending scouts to watch the player in action during Celtic’s pre-season friendlies with Norwich and Inter Milan.

The duo have received positive reports on the Kenyan so far and scouts will once again be in attendence as Neil Lennon’s men take on Helsinki in their Champions League qualifier tonight.

Wanyama has been deployed in his preferred central midfield role during pre-season after being left frustrated at being played in central defence on several occasions last season.

The 21-year-old moved to Park Head 12 months ago from Belgian side Beerschot AC and enjoyed a superb debut season in the SPL. That form has alerted both the Gunners and United but the Premier League big-guns may also face competition from QPR, who are also believed to be interested in the powerful midfield enforcer.

not sure who makes these figures up but if he was in England you could easy put a 2 in front of that 7 when you see what goes on down south , Glasgow Celtic would be absolute fools to sell this extremely talented guy go for anything less than fifteen million as this kid has a very bright future !!!

you have to laugh at the sheer arrogance of the English press who just write anything to fill these pages ,this guy who you are quoting as being worth 7 million is one of the best players I have seen in Scotland my friends , he has everything in his game and if you know a better player in the deffencive midfield role please please name him , i have seen many players in our very poor league as you say including Kenny dalgleish , Brian laudrup , Ronald de Boer , Paolo di cannio , hennrick larsson , Charlie Nicholas , Steven fletcher , Charlie adam to name a few who were absoloutly know good until they went to England so it is told, sorry de Boer did not , but mr victor wanyama is as good as any i have named so forget the 7 million , i hope he goes to mufc as he is just what they need . cmon alex

We know Victor in Kenya as a versatile, speedy workaholic. This would be a wonderful player under Wenger’s able coaching. But Arsenal should buy with a mind of giving immediate play time. He’s definitely not material to be loaned out.

he is in the £12 million – £15million price range. So lets get serious unless he has a release clause.
