Arsenal & Chelsea Eyeing Move For Spanish Ace, Club Ready To Sell For €27.5m
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to battle-it-out over the signing of Pedro with Barcelona set to cash-in on the attacker for €27.5m this summer
The January transfer window is now closed but that won’t stop the newspapers from speculating ahead of the summer so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea are all linked with Pedro….
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to battle-it-out over the signing of Pedro with Barcelona set to cash-in on the Spanish attacker if an offer of €27.5m comes their way this summer, according to reports.
Pedro has been on the books at Barca since joining the club’s youth team as a 17-year-old in 2004 and came through the youth ranks before breaking into the first team in 2008.
The attacker’s breakthrough season came in 2009/10 when he scored 23 goals in 52 appearances to help the club lift the La Liga title and he was expected to push on and become a permanent fixture in the starting eleven.
However, Pedro’s career has stalled in recent years and he’s fallen even further down the pecking order this season following the arrival of Luis Suarez, with the Spaniard only starting five league games since the Uruguayan international returned from his suspension in October.
His lack of action has led to speculation he could be on the move at the end of the season and the Express cite reports coming from Spanish outlet AS which claim that Barcelona are ready to sell if they receive an offer of €27.5m (£20m).
The player himself fuelled talk of a move after recently admitting he’ll reassess his situation this summer.
“I don’t know [if I will stay]. For now, I’m happy at the club, but you never know what is going to happen tomorrow.
“I’m calm, with my mind set on the club until the end of the season and then we’ll see what happens after that.
“Not having continuity makes things complicated. It’s tough, but what I try to do is help out as much as possible.” Pedro is quoted as saying by the Express
Despite not being a regular, Pedro has still managed to chip in with 10 goals in his 35 appearances and he’s highly regarded throughout Europe, so there will be no shortage of takers if the Catalans are ready to cash-in.
The Express suggests that Arsenal and Chelsea are ready to battle-it-out for his signature while Manchester United are also understood to be keeping a close eye on things, so a move to the Premier League could be on the cards.
Lukas Podolski is expected to leave Arsenal on a permanent basis this summer so Arsene Wenger could be eyeing Pedro as a potential replacement for the German international.
Chelsea will also bring in another forward as Didier Drogba is set to leave when his deal expires this June, while United are likely to be looking for a replacement for Radamel Falcao as Louis van Gaal is highly unlikely to make his loan move permanent, and Pedro would be an excellent signing should any of the trio pull it off.

He’s not been a first team regular for several seasons but he always manages to score at least 10 goals a year and is capable of playing anywhere across the front three, so Pedro provide plenty of options for any new manager, but we’ll have to wait and see where he sees his future if he does leave the Nou Camp this summer.
