Arsenal remain in third place in the Premier League table after a 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Wednesday night.
Olivier Giroud opened the scoring before Alexis Sanchez made it 2-0 shortly after, and although Charlie Austin pulled one back late on, we held out to secure a vital three points.
Here are my ratings from the game:
Ospina 6.5/10 | Had very little to do in terms of shot-stopping but was very solid in the air and commanded his area well. Didn’t get near the Austin goal.
Bellerin 8/10 | Superb game. Bellerin made several lung-busting runs down the right but he was also solid in defence.
Mertesacker 7/10 | Back in the side and to good effect as he was crucial in dealing with the direct approach from QPR.
Gabriel 6/10 | Didn’t look comfortable against Zamora before picking up a hamstring injury.
Gibbs 7/10 | Ended the game with two assists and was a danger down the left going forward, but he’ll be disappointed with his defending for the Austin goal.
Coquelin 8/10 | Another superb performance in the middle of the park. Protected the back four and snuffed out any attacks from the hosts.
Cazorla 7/10 | Steady and unspectacular from the Spanish magician. Went close to scoring with a fine volley.
Rosicky 7/10| Used the ball well and offered real energy in midfield.
Ozil 8/10 | Excellent performance. Showed some sublime touches and his class was on show last night. Almost grabbed a goal but saw his effort hit the post after an lovely piece of skill on the edge of the area.
Alexis 8/10| Back to his best and back among the goals. Played his part in the opener and went close to making it 2-0 shortly after but saw his effort well saved.. He eventually got his goal with a lovely solo strike from a tight angle.
Giroud 7/10 | Another goal for the Frenchman. That’s seven in nine games. Wasn’t as involved as he usually is but kept the QPR defenders busy with his presence.
Subs:
Koscielny 7/10 | A rock solid performance from Koscielny after replacing Gabriel in the first half.
Ramsey N/A
Welbeck N/A
