Chelsea vs PSG Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups, Predicted Score & Betting Tips
Chelsea take on PSG at Stamford Bridge this evening. Here’s a preview with team news, line-ups, predicted score and betting tips for the game.
Chelsea will be looking to book their place in the quarter finals of the Champions League when they face PSG on Wednesday evening.
The tie is finely poised after a 1-1 draw in the first leg three weeks ago where Edinson Cavani’s second half strike cancelled out Branislav Ivanovic’s opener.
Chelsea are in a much stronger position than they were in the quarter finals last year when they had to overturn a 3-1 deficit having lost the first leg at the Parc des Prines, so I’m sure Jose Mourinho will be confident of getting the job done on home soil tonight.
The Blues come into the game full of confidence having followed up their Capital One Cup triumph by beating West Ham 1-0 at Upton Park last weekend to maintain their five point advantage at the top of the table.
However, PSG are also in fine form with Laurent Blanc’s side winning three and drawing one of their four games since the first leg last month, so they may be quietly confident of pulling off a shock at the Bridge this evening.
Team news
Chelsea welcome back midfielder Nemanja Matic after he completed a two-game domestic suspension. The Serbian international has also been passed fit after picking up a minor ankle injury while celebrating their League Cup win over Tottenham.
Mourinho has no fresh injury worries to contend with so John Obi Mikel remains the clubs only absentee, with the Nigerian international still out with a knee injury.
PSG will be without right-back Serge Aurier due to a hamstring injury while winger Lucas Moura also remains on the sidelines with a knee problem.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Chelsea 2-0 PSG: The Blues are a formidable side at home and although the likes of Ibrahimovic and Cavani will always pose a threat, I think we’ll see Mourinho’s Chelsea ease into the last eight of the Champions League with a 3-1 aggregate win tonight.
Betting Tips
Chelsea are the favourites to win the game at odds of 23/20 but thanks to Football-Talk you can get enhanced odds of 5/1 for the Blues to win within the 90 minutes, plus money back if you lose and £100 in free bets. If you’d prefer to bet on the exact scoreline, our 2-0 prediction is on offer at 17/2 while I fancy Eden Hazard to open the scoring which is available at odds of 13/2 and if I combine that with a 2-0 win in a scorecast then we get very tempting odds of 33/1. Surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid!?
