Chelsea crashed out of the Champions League in dramatic fashion as 10-man PSG booked their place in the quarter finals after a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
The game was on a knife edge throughout and tempers boiled over when Zlatan Ibrahimovic was dismissed for a lung on Oscar midway through the first half – although replays suggested it could have been a harsh decision.
The Blues eventually made their extra man count as Gary Cahill opened the scoring when he lashed home a loose ball in the box following an 80th minute corner from Cesc Fabregas.
The lead didn’t last long though as PSG forced extra-time when David Luiz came back to haunt his former club with a bullet header in the 86th minute to make it 1-1 and 2-2 on aggregate.
Chelsea retook the lead in the sixth minute of extra-time when Thiago Silva handled in the area and Eden Hazard tucked away the resulting penalty to make it 2-1 on the night.
However, PSG stunned the Bridge when Silva got above John Terry to send home a looping header for 2-2 in the 114th minute. Chelsea couldn’t find the third goal they needed so PSG progress on away goals after the tie finished 3-3 on aggregate.
