Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Hector Bellerin have expressed their disappointment on Twitter after Arsenal crashed out of the Champions League to Monaco last night.
We came close to overturning the 3-1 first leg deficit but just came up short as goals from Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey made it 3-3 on aggregate and Monaco progress to the quarter finals on the away goals rule.
It a familiar tale for Arsenal but that doesn’t mean it eases the pain of crashing out of Europe’s elite competition, and some of the players have now been expressing their disappointment on Twitter.
Mesut Ozil was quick to take to the social media site after the game to say it’s difficult to be knocked out of the competition in such a way while Hector Bellerin said he is proud of the team for fighting until the very end.
Goal-scorer Aaron Ramsey also took to Twitter earlier today to say he’s gutted to have come so close to pulling off the miracle but thanked the fans for their amazing support once again.
Check out what the players had to say here:
Gutted to have come so close last night. Thanks to the fans who travel from far and wide to support us wherever we play, you're amazing
