Newcastle vs Arsenal Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups, Prediction & Betting Tips
Arsenal take on Newcastle at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon. Here’s a preview with team news, line-ups, predicted score and betting tips for the game.
Arsenal will be looking to cement their place in the top four when they take on Newcastle at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon.
Tuesday’s impressive 2-0 win at Monaco was ultimately in vain as we crashed out of the Champions League on the away goals rule yet again but at least we kept up our excellent recent form.
We head into the weekend action having won 13 of our last 15 games in all competition and made it 5 league victories in a row with a comfortable 3-0 defeat of West Ham last weekend.
That result ensured we stayed third in the table, just a single point behind Manchester City, but with Manchester United and Liverpool breathing down our necks we can’t afford any slips ups this weekend.
Newcastle are always a dangerous side on their day but they are in something of a slump of late having lost three of their last four games and we’ve come out on top in each of the last six meetings with the Magpies, so we should be confident of picking up a vital win tomorrow.
Team news
We have no fresh injury concerns to deal with but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains out with a hamstring injury.
Jack Wilshere is also still weeks away from recovering from his ankle injury but Tomas Rosicky is expected to be back in the squad after missing the last three games through illness.
Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Debuchy resumed light training last week but they are still at least two weeks away from being in contention for a return to the first team.
Newcastle are down to the bare bones with John Carver having just 13 fit senior outfield players to choose from this weekend.
Captain Fabricio Coloccini starts a three-match ban while Papiss Cisse’s serves the second of his seven game ban for spitting.
Steven Taylor is out for the season with an Achilles injury and he’s joined on the sidelines by Paul Dummett, Massadio Haidara, Cheick Tiote, Mehdi Abeid, Siem de Jong and Rolando Aarons.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal: We are on an excellent run while the hosts aren’t playing well and have a severely depleted squad, so everything points to an Arsenal victory. If we keep things tight at the back, as we’ve done over the past two games, and play with a fast tempo in attack then we should be able to grab a couple of goals against a make-shift back line.
Betting Tips
Arsenal are the favourites to win the game at odds of 4/7 but Football-Talk can get you enhanced odds of 4/1 for an Arsenal win, plus you can get money back if you lose and £100 worth of free bets. My prediction of 2-0 is on offer at odds of 7/1 while I also like the look of Alexis Sanchez opening the scoring at 4/1. If we combine those bets in a scorecast then we get very tempting odds of 18/1. Surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid!?
