Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back in training while Danny Welbeck should be fit to face Liverpool this weekend.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has missed Arsenal’s last three games after suffering a hamstring injury during the North Londoners 2-1 victory over Manchester United in the FA Cup on March 9th.

The attacking midfielder also missed England’s recent international double-header and he was initially expected to be out for around a month but it looks as though he could be back slightly earlier than first thought.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference this morning, Wenger has confirmed the 21-year-old is now back in full training and although the Liverpool game on Saturday will come too soon, he should be in contention for next weekends trip to Burnley.

In a double boost, the Gunners boss also revealed that Danny Welbeck should be fit to face the Merseysiders. The attacker was in excellent form for England last week, scoring one and setting up another during a 3-0 win over Lithuania.

The 24-year-old was forced off with 10 minutes to go after twisting his knee but Wenger has confirmed that he could be back in contention to take on Liverpool this weekend.

Arsenal welcome Liverpool to the Emirates sitting six points clear of their fifth-placed rivals in the Premier League table so victory on Saturday would go a long way to ensuring Arsene Wenger’s men will qualify for the Champions League next season.
