Arsenal scored a late equaliser to salvage an important point at Old Trafford with Tyler Blackett’s own goal securing a 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
United started the brighter of the two sides and took a deserved lead midway through the first half when Ashley Young did well to find space down the left and Ander Herrera was on hand to volley home his far post cross for 1-0.
However, Arsenal improved after the break and after squandering some good chances, eventually found a way through as Theo Walcott’s cross was deflected past substitute goalkeeper Victor Valdes for 1-1 in the 82nd minute.
Olivier Giroud wasted a great chance to win it for the Gunners late on but it ended all-square and the result leaves Arsenal two points clear of United in third with a game in hand, so Arsene Wenger’s men look in excellent shape to secure the automatic Champions League qualification place.
