Man Utd Table £32m Bid & Offer Player Five-Year Deal Worth £8m-Per-Season
Manchester United have submitted a £32m bid to Real Madrid for Sergio Ramos and offered the defender a five-year contract worth around £8m-per-season
With the summer transfer window finally open for business, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of next season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd make their move for Sergio Ramos….
Manchester United have submitted a £32m bid to Real Madrid for Sergio Ramos and offered the defender a five-year contract worth around £8m-per-season, according to Spanish outlet AS.
Ramos’s future has come under scrutiny this summer after talks over a new deal at the Bernabeu stalled and this has led to intense speculation linking him with a move to United in recent weeks.
Sky Sports News reported at the end of June that the Red Devils had tabled an opening £28.6m offer after Ramos had supposedly told Madrid officials that he wanted to make the move to Old Trafford.
That offer was rejected by Madrid and the rumours appeared to die down a little in recent days as players flew back from their holidays and returned to pre-season training.
However, it looks like United have now renewed their interest with Spanish outlet AS claiming they’ve submitted a new bid worth £32m and offered Ramos a five-year deal worth around £8m-per-season.
I’m sure the lucrative deal on the table may be tempting for the centre-back but it appears United will have to dig a little deeper if they want to persuade Madrid to cash-in as AS suggest the Spanish giants are demanding closer to £64m for his signature.
I’d be shocked if United agreed to pay such a figure for a 29-year-old defender so unless Madrid lower their expectations, I don’t see how a deal can be agreed between the two clubs any time soon.
However, that isn’t likely as president Florentino Perez hinted at Iker Casillas’s farewell event earlier this week that they aren’t prepared to sell Ramos this summer. As fans chanted ‘don’t sell Ramos’, Perez is quoted as saying to the media by AS:
“There are footballers that the club does not want to leave and they will not go…”
All this news comes amid rumours that Madrid are set to name Ramos as the new club captain, so it seems like they are pulling out all the stops to keep hold of the Spanish international.
Obviously Ramos would be an excellent signing for United if they could pull it off but I think a deal is looking increasingly unlikely unless the player is prepared to force his way out of the club – which seems unthinkable given he’s just completed his tenth season at the Bernabeu.

Louis van Gaal has been extremely busy in the transfer market this summer having completed deals for Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmain, but I have a feeling we’ll have to wait a little longer before a new centre-back arrives.
Madrid continue to be linked with David De Gea and you can’t help but think the two deals are interlinked with Madrid and United playing hardball over both players, but I think there’s more chance of De Gea lining-up alongside Ramos in Madrid colours next season than in the red of United.
