Liverpool will look to get back to winning ways when they take on Carlisle in the 3rd round of the Capital One Cup at Anfield on Wednesday night. Here is the side I think Brendan Rodgers will pick:
Goalkeeper: Simon Mignolet is set for a well-earned breather with Adam Bodgan expected to be handed the gloves for this League Cup clash.
Defence: Rodgers is set to make several changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Norwich at the weekend but he’s likely to stick with a 3-4-2-1 formation which he’s reverted to in recent matches.
If he does, then Dejan Lovren could be recalled to the starting eleven to join Kolo Toure and Joe Gomez at the back, with the likes of Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho given a rest.
Midfield: Alberto Moreno could keep his place on the left wing with Jordon Ibe coming in on the right hand side. Lucas Leiva and James Milner should be rested with Jordan Rossiter joining Emre Can in the middle of the park.
Jordan Henderson has been ruled out for at least a month after undergoing surgery on a broken foot this week.
Attack: Christian Benteke is also missing after being forced off at half-time against Norwich with a hamstring injury so Danny Ings should start up front after scoring at the weekend – altough Divock Origi is also pushing for a start.
Philippe Coutinho should be given a breather with Adam Lallana Roberto Firmino recalled in attack, while Daniel Sturridge is likely to be left out having made his first appearance in five months on Saturday.
Here is how I think we’ll see Liverpool line-up:
