Arsenal have been handed a timely injury boost with Arsene Wenger confirming Francis Coquelin could be fit to face Olympiacos on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old missed the midweek League Cup win over Tottenham after being forced off against Chelsea last weekend with a minor knee injury.

The midfielder failed to make the trip to Leicester today and the boss suggested at his press conference on Friday that Coquelin would also sit out Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Olympiacos.

However, speaking to Arsenal.com after our thrilling 5-2 victory at the King Power this afternoon, Wenger now says the Frenchman could return to face the Greek outfit at the Emirates on Tuesday night.

Coquelin’s return would be a welcome boost as his replacement today – Mathieu Flamini – was forced off early on against Leicester and Wenger has revealed he’s picked up a hamstring injury, which means he’s highly likely to be ruled out in midweek.

Arsene told the clubs website:

on injuries…

Coquelin could be available for Tuesday. Today we lost Mathieu Flamini and the only one that could come back is Coquelin and Gabriel is not suspended.

on Flamini’s injury…

Hamstring.

Let’s hope Coquelin is passed fit to face Olympiacos as I think he’s been sorely missed against Spurs and Leicester. However, I wouldn’t rush him back as we’ve got a huge game against Manchester United next weekend and that should be the priority.
