Arsenal Handed Huge Sanchez Injury Boost As Medical Team Offers Positive Update
Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost with the clubs medical team informing Chile that Alexis Sanchez’s groin injury is not thought to be serious
Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost with the clubs medical department informing the Chile national team that Alexis Sanchez’s groin injury is not thought to be serious, according to the Express.
After scoring two superb goals at the Emirates on Sunday, Sanchez was forced off during the latter stages of our 3-0 victory over Manchester United after picking up a groin injury.
The attacker was replaced by Kieran Gibbs in the 81st minute and headed straight down the tunnel with physio Colin Lewin to be assessed in the dressing room.
Arsene Wenger confirmed after the game that Sanchez had suffered a groin injury and he was concerned he might aggravate the problem while away on international duty with Chile this week.
“He has a little groin problem.
“Unfortunately he goes to Chile. You cannot stop him from going to Chile and he loves so much to play for his country and he will play against Brazil [on Friday] and Peru [next] Tuesday so the game at home against Brazil he will not want to miss.
“Hopefully he will come back in good shape.” Wenger is quoted as saying by the Express
Obviously fans were left worried that our key man was being allowed to play for his country while carrying an injury instead of being withdrawn and allowed to recover.
However, it seems the injury wasn’t as serious as first thought as the Express are citing a report from Chilean newspaper La Tercera which claims that Arsenal have now played down the problem.
The newspaper suggests that when the Chile national team contacted Arsenal for an update regarding Sanchez’s fitness, they were told by the clubs medical department that the 26-year-old was fit and available for selection.
Chile will carry out their own medical checks when Sanchez arrives for international duty but it appears the groin injury was just a minor tweak and he’ll now be able to play against Brazil on Friday.
Hopefully he won’t aggravate the injury while away with his country as Sanchez has just found his best form again and it would be a major blow if he was ruled out with all the big games we’ve got coming up over the coming weeks.
