Arsenal Handed Major Injury Boost Ahead Of Vital Bayern Munich Showdown
Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost ahead of the Bayern Munich game with Laurent Koscielny expected to return from a hamstring injury.
Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost ahead of the crunch clash against Bayern Munich with Laurent Koscielny expected to return from a hamstring injury in time to face the German giants, according to ESPN.
Koscielny was forced off during the second half of our shock 3-2 Champions League defeat to Olympiacos last week after picking up a hamstring injury which was expected to rule him out for three weeks.
The defender missed Sunday’s 3-0 win over Manchester United at the Emirates before being withdrawn from the France squad for their upcoming international’s, and he was facing the prospect of missing Arsenal’s next three fixtures.
However, ESPN claim Koscielny is recovering quicker than expected and Arsenal are now understood to be confident the 30-year-old will be passed fit to face Bayern at home on October 20.
The report states that Arsenal’s medical team are working round the clock to help Koscielny get back to full fitness as soon as possible and while he’s unlikely to be risked against Watford next Saturday, he now has every chance of facing the Bundesliga champions.
It would be a major boost if Kos was passed fit for that game as it’s become a must-win fixture following our shock defeats to Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos – which have left us sitting bottom of Group F and facing an uphill challenge to make it to the knockout phase of the Champions League.
Gabriel and Per Mertesacker were both excellent against United last weekend but Koscielny is our best centre-back so his return would give us a big boost, and lets face it, we need all the help we can get to try and stop the likes of Lewandowski, Muller, etc.
