Wenger Confirms Key Arsenal Duo Will Return v Watford + Positive Wilshere Update
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed a key duo will be available after the international break plus he’s also given a positive update on Jack Wilshere.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Petr Cech and Aaron Ramsey will be available again after the international break plus he’s also given a positive update on Jack Wilshere.
Ramsey has been on the sidelines since suffering a thigh injury during the second half of our 4-0 FA Cup replay victory over Hull City at the KC Stadium earlier this month.
The Welsh international came on as a substitute for Gabriel shortly after half-time but had to be replaced just 15 minutes later after hobbling off clutching his thigh.
There were initial fears that the 25-year-old may not return until late April, however, Wenger has now revealed that Ramsey will ‘definitely’ be available after the upcoming international break.
In a huge double boost, the boss also confirmed that Cech will be back in contention after the break with the Czech international on the road to recovery following a calf injury which he picked up against Swansea City at the start of the month.
Mathieu Flamini has been ruled out with a hamstring injury that he suffered against Barcelona on Wednesday night and Arsene says that the midfielder could also join Ramsey and Cech in being available when we entertain Watford at the Emirates on April 2nd.
Wenger also gave an update on Wilshere’s progress as he continues to work his way back to full fitness following a fractured fibula which he suffered during pre-season, and the boss says the midfielder is now ‘showing good signs’ of getting himself back in contention for a return to the squad.
However, Arsene says Santi Cazorla’s rehabilitation from a knee injury is going ‘a bit slower’ and neither player is expected to be available for selection immediately after the upcoming international break.
Wenger told Arsenal.com:
on Cech, Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere…
Wilshere is showing good signs now of recovery, Santi is a bit slower. The players who will definitely be back from injury [after the international break] will be Ramsey, Cech and maybe Flamini. But I don’t think Cazorla or Wilshere will be straight after the international break.
It will be a huge boost to have Cech and Ramsey available against Watford next month while Cazorla and Wilshere’s return can’t come soon enough as I think we’ve hugely missed the pair during the past few months.
However, none of those players will be available for tomorrow’s trip to Everton as we go searching for a win that would keep alive our slim hopes of catching Leicester City in the title race.
