Liverpool look set to beat Arsenal and Tottenham to the signing of English wonderkid Andre Dozzell after holding formal talks with Ipswich Town over a potential deal for the teenager, according to the Mirror.
Andre Dozzell is the son of former Ipswich and Tottenham midfielder Jason Dozzell and the youngster is forging a career of his own having broken in to the Ipswich first team set-up after progressing through the youth ranks.
The 16-year-old’s impressive performances for the Championship side’s youth team this season have led to strong interest from the upper echelons of English football with the Mirror claiming that Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are among the clubs showing a keen interest.
However, it looks as though the Merseysiders are now the front-runners as the newspaper suggests that Jurgen Klopp’s men are set to win the race for Dozzell’s signature after opening formal talks with the Suffolk club over a summer deal.
Liverpool are understood to have been scouting the youngster for months and the report claims that they are on the verge of wrapping-up a deal that will see Ipswich receive around £1.5m in compensation for developing the midfielder.
Dozzell will turn 17 next month and while the England Under-17 captain is yet to make his senior debut for Ipswich, he was named on the bench for last month’s clash with Nottingham Forest and is tipped to have a huge future in the game.

Dozzell has predominantly been played as a central midfielder in the Ipswich youth team and while he wouldn’t be expected to make any impression on the Liverpool first team any time soon, he’d certainly be an exciting prospect for the future if he does end up at Anfield.
