Arsenal Face Battle With Liverpool & Chelsea For England Youth International
Arsenal have renewed their interest in Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell but will face competition from Chelsea and Liverpool for his signature this summer
Arsenal have renewed their interest in Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell but will face competition from Chelsea and Liverpool for his signature this summer, according to the Mirror.
Chilwell is a product of the Leicester youth academy and has developed in to one of the most promising young full-backs in British football since breaking in to the first team squad this season.
The Foxes are desperate to keep hold of the 19-year-old and have offered him a new long-term contract but it appears Chilwell isn’t ready to commit his future to the King Power just yet as he’s struggled to force his way in to Claudio Ranieri’s team in recent months.
With Leicester storming their way to a shock Premier League title, Ranieri has understandably stuck with a settled starting eleven that has seen Christian Fuchs make the left-back spot his own, leaving Chilwell on the substitutes bench.
It looks like the uncertainty over his future has alerted Arsenal with the Mirror claim that the Gunners have renewed their interest in signing the teenage defender this summer having been linked during the January transfer window.
Boss Arsene Wenger has seemingly identified the Leicester starlet as a potential long-term replacement for Kieran Gibbs – who’s expected to leave in search of first team football this summer after losing his place to Nacho Monreal.
However, the Gunners are going to have to fend off some stiff competition for Chilwell’s signature as the newspaper says that Chelsea and Liverpool are also watching developments closely and could make their own move if the player decides it’s time for a new challenge.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but it looks like three of the Premier League’s biggest clubs are going to be fighting over one of the hottest young prospects in English football this summer.

Chilwell has already represented England at Under-20 level and was invited by Roy Hodgson to train with the senior side last month, so he’s certainly got a big future ahead of him and would be an exciting addition to the Arsenal, Chelsea, or Liverpool squad if they were able to lure him away from the Champions-elect.
