Liverpool Team News: Klopp Offers Positive Injury Update On Trio
Jurgen Klopp has offered a positive injury update on Danny Ings, Jordan Henderson and Divock Origi ahead of upcoming games against West Brom and Sevilla
Liverpool will look to put next weeks Europa League final to the back of their mind as they finish their Premier League campaign against West Brom at the Hawthorns on Sunday.
Ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given Liverpoolfc.com a team news and injury update.
The German coach was pleased to confirm that Danny Ings could feature against West Brom while Jordan Henderson and Divock Origi could yet be passed fit to face Sevilla next week.
Ings has been on the sidelines since suffering a serious knee injury in training back in October but the striker returned to full training earlier this month and could now make his long-awaited comeback at the Hawthorns.
Henderson was expected to miss the rest of the season after also suffering a knee injury over a month ago but the midfielder has made a swift recovery and is now pushing to prove his fitness ahead of the Europa League final.
Origi on the other hand was sidelined by an ankle injury that he suffered during the Merseyside derby last month but he too has made a quick recovery and could put himself on contention to face Sevilla next Wednesday.
Klopp told the clubs website:
“Three players might come back, we have to see. I haven’t made final decisions.
“We have to see if Danny Ings, in the circumstances, is ready for West Brom.
“Divock and Hendo – Hendo did a little bit more but they are both in a good way.
“We have to see what happens in the next days. In the end, it’s not my decision. I am used to taking what I get, in this situation especially.
“We have to wait but they are pretty close; if the final was one week later, now we [would] talk. It will be close. We have to wait.”
It would be great to see Ings get some minutes against West Brom this weekend while it would be a major boost for Klopp if Origi and particularly Henderson were passed fit to face Sevilla.
