Chelsea & Man Utd Ready To Hijack Arsenal’s Bid For Serie A Striker

Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to try and hijack Arsenal’s bid to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata this summer, according to reports

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, the race hots-up for Alvaro Morata….

Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to try and hijack Arsenal’s bid to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata this summer, according to the Sun.

Morata’s future at Juventus is in serious doubt as the Guardian reported last week that Real Madrid have decided to activate a £23.6m buyback clause that was inserted in to the deal that saw him leave the Bernabeu two years ago.

The La Liga giants are then planning to immediately sell the Spanish international to the highest bidder to turn a quick profit and it looked as though Arsenal had put themselves in pole position with the Express reporting yesterday that they had launched a £51m bid to lure Morata to the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger has already admitted that he’ll need to bring in another striker this summer after losing Danny Welbeck for nine months with a serious knee injury and the French boss has seemingly renewed his interest in Morata after missing out on his signature in 2014.

However, it looks as though the Gunners are now going to face stiff competition as the Sun claim that Chelsea and Manchester United are now ready to try and hijack Arsenal’s move.

The newspaper cites reports coming out of Italy that suggest United have already lodged a rival offer for Morata while Chelsea are also expected to follow suit with a move of their own.

United could certainly do with another frontman to help ease the load on Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial now that Wayne Rooney’s future looks to be in midfield and Morata would be an exciting young addition at Old Trafford.

However, new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is expected to overhaul the squad this summer with support for Diego Costa a priority and the Italian tactician knows Morata well as he was the man to take him to Turin two years ago.

It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how this all plays out with three of England’s most powerful clubs battling it out over the 23-year-old’s signature, but before any move to the Premier League can take place, Madrid have to first activate his buyback clause so we’ll have to wait for the Spaniard’s to act before the scrap can ensue.
