Chelsea & Man Utd Set To Swoop After £65m Striker Confirms Move Desire
Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to make their move after a £65m target confirmed his desire to move clubs this summer. Find out all the details here
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Romelu Lukaku is linked with a move away from Everton….
Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to make their move after Romelu Lukaku confirmed his desire to leave Everton this summer and join a bigger club, according to the Daily Mail.
Lukaku has just come off the back of his most prolific season to date after scoring 25 goals in all competitions for a struggling Everton side that finished way down in a disappointing eleventh place in the table.
It came after the Belgian international had netted 20 goals the previous year so Lukaku is certainly developing in to a top goal-scorer and it’s easy to understand why he’s attracting interest from some of England’s most powerful clubs.
The Daily Mail claim that Chelsea and Manchester United are among the club’s who’ve registered their interest in signing Lukaku this summer with the Toffees reportedly ready to cash-in if their £65m valuation is met.
The duo have now been handed a major boost after the striker suggested he wants to leave Goodison Park this summer for a club who can challenge for top honours. Lukaku is quoted as saying by the Mail:
‘I’m at a point where I have to make a good career choice,’
‘We have a new investor at Everton and out of courtesy I will listen to what he has to say. But I have my own ideas in mind. I want to win titles.
‘I have had a very good season, but it is time for me to write myself a CV. That is why I play football.
‘I got that trophy-winning mindset from Chelsea.
‘People in Belgium don’t see me playing for Everton, but I am respected by fans, managers and experts like Jamie Carragher, Graeme Souness and Thierry Henry.’
I’m sure Everton will be keen to keep hold of Lukaku as they look to rebuild under a new owner but £65m would be too tempting an offer to turn down, if the likes of Chelsea or United are willing to match that figure.
Incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte is expected to be busy in the transfer market rebuilding the deposed champions and another striker to support Diego Costa should be a priority as Radamel Falcao has gone back to Monaco and Loic Remy is likely to find a new club this summer.
Lukaku was previously on the books at Chelsea but failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge before making a £28m move to Everton in 2014 so it remains to be seen whether the Belgian hitman would be willing to try again in West London.
If not, then that would open the door to United as they could also do with another front-man to help ease the load on Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial now that Wayne Rooney’s future looks to be in midfield.

However, Jose Mourinho has just been appointed as the new United boss and he hardly gave Lukaku a chance during his time at Chelsea so it will be interesting to see if the striker would be willing to work under the ‘Special One’ again at Old Trafford.
