Star Makes Key Decision After Arsenal & Chelsea Make Offers For 32-Assist Attacker
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has snubbed an new contract extension from Borussia Dortmund after Arsenal and Chelsea put forward lucrative offers for the attacker
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Chelsea are handed a boost in their pursuit of Henrikh Mkhitaryan….
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has snubbed an new contract extension from Borussia Dortmund after Arsenal and Chelsea put forward lucrative offers for the attacker, according to a report in the Daily Star.
Mkhitaryan has just come off the back of a sensational season that saw him score 23 goals and provide an incredible 32 assists in 51 appearances for Dortmund as they finished runners-up to champions Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga table.
That impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League with the Express reporting earlier this month that Arsenal and Chelsea were keen on luring the attacker to England this summer.
It appears the London duo have now stepped up their interest in the Armenian international as the Daily Star are citing a report coming from Bild that claims Arsenal and Chelsea have put forward lucrative offers for the player.
Mkhitaryan has just one year remaining on his current contract and the German publication suggests that the 27-year-old has had his head turned by Arsenal and Chelsea’s offers as he’s now decided not to sign an extension with Dortmund.
If this report is accurate, then the German giants may be forced to cash-in this summer as otherwise they could lose Mkhitaryan for nothing in 12 months time and it appears the player is tempted by a move to England.
Arsene Wenger has already been active in the summer market after signing midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach but the Gunners boss may need to bring in a replacement for Theo Walcott if he ends up leaving the club and Mkhitaryan would be ideal.
However, new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is also expected to be busy in the transfer market rebuilding the squad following a disastrous campaign and Mkhitaryan is the type of player who could rejuvenate the Blues attack next season.

The Armenian has primarily played as a right-winger for Dortmund but he can play anywhere across the front three attacking positions so he’d give Wenger or Conte plenty of options if he was to make a move to either club.
