Arsenal Ready To Table Attacker Bid After Holding Talks With La Liga Giants
Arsenal are lining-up a formal bid for Yannick Carrasco after contacting Atletico Madrid to enquire about the attackers availability this summer
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Yannick Carrasco….
Arsenal are lining-up a formal bid for Yannick Carrasco after contacting Atletico Madrid to enquire about the attackers availability this summer, according to the Express.
Arsene Wenger has already splashed out on the signing of Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Mönchengladbach but the boss is expected to further strengthen his squad over the coming weeks and it appears Carrasco is on his radar.
The Belgian international only joined Atletico from AS Monaco in a £15m deal last summer and he’s enjoyed an excellent debut season in Spain having helped Diego Simeone’s men finish third in La Liga while he also scored in the 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in last weekend’s Champions League final.
It looks like Carrasco’s impressive form has attracted interest from North London as the Express are citing Emanuele Giulianelli as saying that Arsenal have made contact with Atletico to enquire about the wingers availability this summer.
The Italian journalist suggests that we’re now lining-up a formal offer and Atletico could cash-in if a bid in the region of £19m was put on the table with Simeone supposedly eyeing Lazio’s Antonio Candreva as a potential replacement.
We’ll have to wait and see whether Wenger does follow-up his enquiry with a firm offer but if we do end up signing Carrasco then he could be viewed as a potential replacement for Theo Walcott with the England international tipped to leave after losing his place in Wenger’s starting eleven last season.
Carrasco is a wide attacker who can play on either flank so the 22-year-old would give Wenger options in the final third and his direct style of play could give us a new dimension in attacker next year.
