Mesut Ozil set-up Bastian Schweinsteiger for the second goal as Germany kicked off their Euro 2016 campaign with a 2-0 win over Ukraine in Lille this evening.
World champions Germany kicked their 2016 European Championship campaign off with an impressive 2-0 victory over Ukraine in Lille this evening.
The Germans dominated from the outset and broke the deadlock inside the opening 20 minutes as Shkodran Mustafi headed home from a Toni Kroos free-kick in the 19th minute.
Ukraine pushed for an equaliser but couldn’t find a way past Manuel Neuer and Joachim Low’s side sealed the three points in stoppage time as Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil set-up Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger for the second goal.
Germany now move top of Group C ahead of Poland on goal difference ahead of their clash on Thursday night.
