Manchester United are lining-up a mega £79m move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti after Jose Mourinho make him a prime target this summer, according to a reports in the Mirror.
Mourinho is expected to be extremely busy in the transfer market this summer rebuilding the squad he’s inherited from Louis van Gaal and a new midfielder is likely to be on the agenda with Michael Carrick coming towards the end of his career and Bastian Schweinsteiger enduring an injury-plagued campaign last year.
Several big names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks and the latest is Marco Verratti with the Mirror citing reports coming from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport that claim United are ready to pay £79m to lure him away from PSG this summer.
Verratti has developed in to one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Europe since moving to France from Pescara in 2012 and he’d be a superb addition if United could persuade PSG to cash-in.
The French champions are under no pressure to do so as Verratti is under contract with the club until 2020 but they could be tempted if these reports of a £79m bid from United are accurate.
The Red Devils certainly have the financial power to offer such an amount and could no doubt put together a bumper contract for the midfielder if they could get a deal agreed with PSG over the coming weeks.

However, any medical could be troublesome as Verratti is currently on the sidelines with a groin injury that plagued him during the final few weeks of the season and led to the 23-year-old undergoing surgery in May, ruling him out of Euro 2016.
