Arsenal Blow As Agent Confirms Attacker Wants To Join ‘Dream Club’ Man Utd
The agent of a 32-assist attacker has confirmed the player is ready to snub Arsenal and join his ‘dream club’ Manchester United this summer.
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, more on the future of Henrikh Mkhitaryan….
Arsenal have received a blow in their pursuit of Henrikh Mkhitaryan after his agent reaffirmed the attacker wants to leave Borussia Dortmund and join his ‘dream club’ Manchester United this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Mkhitaryan’s future has been a hot topic already this summer after Dortmund confirmed that the Armenian international wouldn’t be signing a contract extension after talks over a new deal collapsed.
The attacker has just one year remaining on his current contract and has attracted plenty of interest in his signature after scoring 23 goals and providing a further 32 assists for his team mates last season.
The Express reported last week that Arsenal had submitted an offer for Mkhitaryan as Arsene Wenger looks for a potential replacement for Theo Walcott with the England international reportedly set to leave the Emirates after losing his first team place last season.
However, Manchester United are also showing a strong interest in signing the 27-year-old with the Mirror reporting that the Red Devils have already seen a £19.2m offer rejected by Dortmund with the clubs chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke insisting the Germans won’t cash-in this summer, despite the risk of losing the player for nothing in 12 months time.
‘We have intensely discussed the question of an early transfer and came to the conclusion that Mkhitaryan will stay next season.’ Watske is quoted as saying by the Mirror
Mkhitaryan agent, Mino Raiola, has confirmed that the player has his heart set on moving to Manchester United this summer and is working hard to try and persuade Dortmund to sell as the attacker doesn’t want to miss out on an opportunity to join his ‘dream club’.
Raiola is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying:
‘We have both taken very different views and fight for them like lions,’
‘Watzke walks 180 degrees into one direction and I 180 degrees into the other. But even though it does not look like it right now, I still hope for a sensible solution.
‘Such an offer to join Manchester United might only come once in a lifetime for a player and nobody can guarantee us that the door will still be open for Micki next season. Manchester are Micki’s dream club, he wants to join them by any means.’
‘We are still talking to Dortmund. We are trying to be reasonable. They are aware that Micki wants to leave now.’
Jose Mourinho is expected to be busy in the transfer market rebuilding the squad Louis van Gaal left behind and the Portuguese coach could certainly do with a creative talent like Mkhitaryan in his new-look side as United only managed to score 49 league goals last season.
We’ll have to wait and see whether Raiola is going to be able to convince the Bundesliga giants to cash-in but it appears Dortmund are reluctant to lose another key player after seeing Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan leave in recent weeks.

If they do change their mind and decide to sell, I’m sure Arsenal won’t give up without a fight, but for now it looks as though United are the clear favourites to sign Mkhitaryan and he’d be a sensational signing if the Red Devils could pull it off.
