Chelsea Looking To Hijack Arsenal’s £23m Move For La Liga Attacker

The summer transfer window is now open for business so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea join the chase for Arda Turan…
Chelsea have joined the chase for Arda Turan and could be set to hijack Arsenal’s proposed £23m move for the Barcelona attacker, according to the Express.
Turan became one of the most exciting midfielders in Europe during his time with Galatasaray and Atletico Madrid before earning a big-money move to Barcelona last summer but his time at the Nou Camp hasn’t quite gone according to plan.
The Turkish international was forced to wait until January to make his debut due to the Catalans FIFA-imposed transfer ban but even when he was available the attacker struggled to establish himself as a regular, managing just 9 starts during the second half of the season.
It’s led to speculation that Turan will be on the move again this summer in search of first team football and the Express claim that recent reports have suggested that Arsenal are ready to test Barca’s resolve with a formal £23m offer.
Arsene Wenger is looking to further strengthen his squad following the arrival of Granit Xhaka and Turan could be viewed as a potential replacement for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with the youngster tipped to leave North London after another frustrating campaign.
However, it looks as though Arsenal are going to face stiff competition as the Express are citing reports coming from Spain that claim Chelsea have now joined the chase for Turan’s signature this summer while Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are also credited with an interest.
Antonio Conte is looking to revamp the Blues squad following their disappointing tenth-placed finish last season and a new powerful midfielder is believed to be on the agenda with Turan seemingly in the Italian’s thoughts.
We’ll have to wait ans see whether Chelsea will match the £23m bid that Arsenal are reportedly lining-up but the newspaper suggests that Barcelona will be tempted to cut their losses on the player after shelling out £35m on his signature just 12 months ago.

The 29-year-old was outstanding during his time with Atletico so he would be an excellent addition if the likes of Arsenal or Chelsea could get the Turkish international back to his best form in the Premier League this summer.
