Agent Explains Why Midfielders Proposed Arsenal Move Has Been Delayed

The agent of a young midfielder has explained the reason why the players proposed move to Arsenal is yet to be formally announced.

The summer transfer window is now open for business so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, more on why Arsenal’s proposed move for Kelechi Nwakali hasn’t been announced….

An agent acting on behalf of Kelechi Nwakali has explained why the Nigerian youngsters protracted move to Arsenal is yet to be formally announced, according to the Daily Star.

Nwakali has emerged as one of the hottest properties in African football and he caught the eye of Arsenal scouts after leading the Nigerian Under-17’s to victory at the youth World Cup in Chile last year where he was named as Player of the Tournament.

The Daily Star claim that we soon agreed a £3m fee with the Diamond Football Academy in Nigeria for the 18-year-old’s signature and Arsene Wenger admitted back in January that the club were closing in on a deal to sign the teenager but negotiations were understood to be complicated by work permit issues [source: Mirror].

Those problems appeared to have been overcome when Nwakali posted a picture on his Facebook page last month of him posing with an Arsenal shirt with a statement saying he’d completed his move to the Emirates.

However, no formal announcement has come from Arsenal as yet and Nwakali’s brother and intermediary agent, Allwell, has explained the reason is the midfielder has been unable to leave the Nigeria Under-20’s camp to be unveiled by the Gunners, but that should change soon.

Allwell is quoted as saying by the Daily Star:

“Any moment from now we will go to Arsenal, they can’t allow him go now because of the narrow victory in the [Afcon Under-20 qualifier] first leg against Sudan,”

“We can’t betray the coach (Amuneke) because he has been helping us in the past.”

Nwakali has played as a central midfielder his entire career so far and is an exciting young talent, and the teenager is expected to play for the Arsenal Under-21’s development squad once he finally completes his move to north London.
