The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Bruno Peres…
Arsenal have opened talks with Torino over a potential £17m deal to sign versatile defender Bruno Peres this summer as Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen his options at the back, according to the Sun.
Wenger has already confirmed he intends to bring in a new central defender after losing Per Mertesacker to a long-term knee injury but the boss may also need reinforcements at right-back with Mathieu Debuchy expected to leave on a permanent basis this summer.
A number of players have been linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks but the latest name is that of Torino defender Bruno Peres – who has developed in to one of the best full-backs in Serie A since moving to Italy from Santos two years ago.
Peres has been linked with a whole host of top clubs this summer with the Sun claiming that Manchester City and Barcelona have both shown a keen interest in the Brazilian defender in recent weeks.
However, the newspaper suggests that Arsenal have now put themselves in to pole position after opening talks with Torino over a potential deal after scouts watched Peres in action during a pre-season clash with Benfica last week.
The Sun goes on to claim that Arsenal chiefs have already held talks with Peres’s agent and the 26-year-old is keen on making a move to north London but Wenger will have to meet the Italian clubs £17m valuation if he wants to secure his signature.
Peres is predominantly a right-back so he’d provide competition for Hector Bellerin but he’s also capable of playing on the left or even in midfield so he’d offer Wenger plenty of options if he was to make the move to Arsenal.

However, I think any official move for Peres will have to wait until Debuchy’s future is resolved while I also think the club are prioritising signing a centre-back and striker before worrying about other areas of the squad. Therefore, any swoop for Peres may be left until later in the window.
