Club Ready To Sell As Arsenal Join Chelsea & Liverpool In Race For £40m Winger
Arsenal have joined Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool in the race for an international winger with his club ready to sell at £40m.
The transfer window is now drawing to a close so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal join the race for Yanice Brahimi….
Arsenal have joined Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to sign Yanice Brahimi with Porto ready to sell the unsettled winger for £40m this summer, according to the Mirror.
Brahimi has developed in to one of the best attackers in Portuguese football since joining Porto from Granada in 2014 with the Algerian scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists in his 49 appearances in all competitions last season.
That impressive form attracted interest from Chelsea and Liverpool with reports in Portuguese newspaper O Jogo reporting earlier in the summer that they were battling it out over Brahimi’s signature while the Mirror also suggests that the Premier League duo are mulling over bids.
Jurgen Klopp has been extremely active in the market bringing in seven new players so I’d anticipate that the Reds boss will only formalise his interest in Brahimi if one of his current players was to leave Anfield during the coming days.
Antonio Conte on the other hand is expected to make further additions before the end of the month and Brahimi could be viewed as a potential replacement for Pedro, who’s been linked with a move back to Spain this summer.
However, it appears Chelsea and Liverpool could now face stiff competition as the Mirror are reporting that Arsenal have now turned their attention to the 26-year-old after seeing Riyad Mahrez commit his future to Leicester City by signing a new four-year deal.
Arsene Wenger is under increasing pressure to strengthen his squad with fans crying out for new additions at the back and in attack, and it appears the Gunners could now be eyeing a move for Brahimi during the closing stages of the window.
Wenger has suggested that he’s ready to end his search for a striker and use Alexis Sanchez through the middle this season which could mean the Frenchman is lining-up Brahimi as a potential replacement for the left-wing spot.
The Algerian international is predominantly a left-sided attacker but he’s capable of playing anywhere across the attacking midfield positions so he’d give the Arsenal boss plenty of options if he does end up making a move to the Emirates.

It’s going to be interesting to see how things develop over the coming days and I think Brahimi would be an excellent signing but any of the clubs been linked will need to dig deep as the Mirror claim it will take a bid of £40m for Porto to sell.
