Man Utd To Make Formal Move For German Star As Mourinho Eyes Double Swoop
Manchester United will make a formal move for Real Madrid star Toni Kroos as Jose Mourinho plans a big money double swoop this summer.
The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Manchester United are linked with Toni Kroos….
Manchester United have identified Toni Kroos as a key transfer target and will test Real Madrid’s resolve to keep the midfielder at the end of the season, according to a report in the Mirror.
Kroos developed in to an outstanding midfielder during his time with Bayern Munich having come through the clubs youth ranks and has continued to forge a reputation as one of the leading players in world football since joining Madrid in 2014.
The German international was strongly linked with a switch to Old Trafford three years ago when former boss David Moyes thought he had a deal wrapped-up before he eventually headed to Spain.
However, it looks as though United are now ready to renew their interest as the Mirror are citing a report coming from the Independent that claims Jose Mourinho has identified Kroos as a key summer target.
The newspaper says that despite Madrid’s insistence they won’t sell the 27-year-old at any price, United will test that resolve with a formal move at the end of the season.
Any deal for Kroos could be part of a sensational double swoop as the Independent also claim that United are still hoping to land Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann.
The French international has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months and the newspaper says that United have already agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old’s agent – although the player is yet to formally ‘OK’ the deal.
Mourinho decided against making any significant new additions to his squad in January but it looks as though he’s gearing up for a busy summer and obviously it would be a sensational piece of business if United were able to land Kroos and Griezmann.
The Red Devils need to find a replacement for Michael Carrick and Kroos would be the ideal player to form a devastating midfield alongside Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba.
A new striker is also needed as Zlatan Ibrahimovic turns 36 this year and despite his superb form in front of goal, he can’t go on forever and Griezmann has the ability to replace the Swedish sensation.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but the rest of the Premier League better watch out if Mourinho is successful in landing Kroos and Griezmann this summer as they’d have a formidable side on paper with those two additions.
