Man Utd Hold Talks With Agent Over Possible £43m Deal For Serie A Star
Manchester United have spoken to the agent of AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma about a possible £43m move to Old Trafford this summer
The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Man Utd have held talks over Gianluigi Donnarumma….
Manchester United have spoken to the agent of AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma about a possible £43m move to Old Trafford this summer, according to Calciomercato.
Donnarumma has emerged as one of the hottest properties in European football since breaking in to the Milan first team having progressed through their youth ranks following his move from Napoli in 2013.
The youngster turned 18 this month which allowed him to sign a new long-term contract at the San Siro and he’s tipped to become one of the best keepers in the world having already made over 50 appearances for Milan and been capped at senior level for the Italian national team.
Donnarumma’s potential has caught the attention of Manchester United with the Mirror carrying a report last month claiming that Jose Mourinho was hot on the trail of the teenager.
The newspaper suggested that United have accepted they will eventually lose David De Gea – most likely to Real Madrid – and they’ve identified Donnarumma as the ideal long-term replacement for the Spanish international.
It looks like the Red Devils have now stepped up their interest as Calciomercato claim today that United officials have now held talks with the players agent, Mino Raiola, about a possible move after he hinted that Donnarumma’s future may lie away from Italy.
The Italian outlet says that a transfer fee in the region of £43m (€50m) was discussed along with a yearly wage of £2.6m (€3m) as Mourinho looks to try and lure Donnarumma to Old Trafford this summer.
However, it appears a deal is still some way from being agreed as Calciomercato claim that Milan are expected to reject such a fee and will instead look to negotiate a new deal with Raiola that would see the agent given a percentage of any future transfer.
This scheme was employed by Juventus in the case of Paul Pogba and it made Raiola a very wealthy man when the midfielder joined United for £89m last summer.
Obviously United know Raiola well as he also brokered deals for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to move to Old Trafford last summer so I’m sure they will try and use that relationship to seal a deal for Donnarumma.

However, Milan are under no immediate pressure to sell so we’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks to see if the keeper tries to force a move this summer.
