Arsenal, Chelsea & Man Utd Battling To Sign £52m Ligue 1 Star
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are battling to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko but will have to pay £52m to sign the highly-rated Monaco midfielder this summer
The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, the race hots-up for Tiemoue Bakayoko….
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are battling to sign Tiemoue Bakayoko but will have to pay £52m to sign the highly-rated Monaco midfielder this summer, according to the The Sun.
Bakayoko has emerged as one of the best young midfielders in French football since becoming a key part of the Monaco first team following his move from Rennes in 2014.
The 22-year-old has helped drive Leonardo Jardin’s side to the top of the Ligue 1 table while he has also played a vital role in helping the club reach the knockout stages of the Champions League.
The French Under-21 international’s potential has caught the attention of several clubs in the Premier League with the Sun claiming that Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd are all battling-it-out over his signature this summer.
However, the English giants will have to be prepared to dig deep if they want to land the defensive midfielder as the newspaper cites a report from France that says Monaco have now slapped a whopping £52m price-tag on his head.
It remains to be seen whether any club will be prepared to match that asking price but it looks as though three of England’s most powerful clubs are now gearing up for a summer transfer battle over Bakayoko.
Irrespective of whether Arsene Wenger stays or goes, Arsenal are in for a busy summer and the north Londoners have once again missed a powerful presence in front of the back four this year so Bakayoko could be the man to offer the protection they need next season.
United are also in the market for a holding midfielder and the Monaco star could be viewed by Jose Mourinho as the ideal long-term replacement for Michael Carrick at Old Trafford.

However, Chelsea are also seemingly in the race with Antonio Conte looking to further strengthen his squad ahead of their return to the Champions League and I think Bakayoko would be an excellent signing for any of the three clubs.
