Manchester United are plotting a sensational £125m double swoop on Atletico Madrid for Jan Oblak and Antoine Griezmann this summer, according to the Daily Star.
Jose Mourinho resisted the temptation to dip in to the January transfer market and is instead gearing up for a busy summer of activity as the Portuguese coach tries to turn United in to genuine title challengers again.
A new forward is of primary importance as a lack of goals has undermined United’s campaign and a replacement for Wayne Rooney is needed as the 31-year-old is expected to leave Old Trafford after falling down the pecking order.
As has been widely reported in recent months, the Daily Star claim that Griezmann is Mourinho’s top target and United are looking to pull off a stunning £85m deal to land the French international.
Griezmann has become one of the best strikers in the world since joining Atletico from Real Sociedad and he’s continued to impress this season with 24 goals and 11 assists so he’d be an excellent addition to the United squad if they could lure him to Manchester.
However, it seems United are now eyeing a double swoop on Atletico as the Daily Star also claim that Mourinho has identified goalkeeper Jan Oblak as a potential target this summer.
Speculation surrounding David De Gea’s future has intensified in recent weeks amid renewed interest from Real Madrid and the newspaper says that United want Oblak if they lose their No.1 to the La Liga giants.
Oblak has developed in to one of the best keepers in Europe and the report suggests that Mourinho is ready to splash a further £40m on the Slovenian international if De Gea heads back to Spain.

I’m sure Atletico will do all they can to hang on to the star duo as they are vital members of Diego Simeone’s side but the clubs hierarchy may find it difficult to resists if United do slap £125m on the table for the duo this summer.
