Olivier Giroud scored twice to help Arsenal close the gap on the top four with a 4-1 victory over Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium this evening.
We started brightly and dominated proceedings with Nacho Monreal missing a couple of good opportunities, including the full-back heading against the post midway through the first half.
Our possession finally led to the opening goal as Hector Bellerin was released in the right side of the area and he squared for Olivier Giroud who had the simple task of tapping home for 1-0 in 42nd minute.
We doubled our lead shortly after the break and it was a stunning combination between Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil which led to the German international clipping over Jack Butland for 2-0.
There was a lot of controversy about the next goal as Stoke pulled one back via a Peter Crouch header but replays showed he handled the ball in to the net.
However, Sanchez made it 3-1 with a drilled low finish before Aaron Ramsey set-up Giroud for his second and Arsenal’s fourth to secure the win which sees us move to within just one point of Liverpool.
