Man Utd To Swoop For Spurs & Everton Stars As Mourinho Plots £200m Spree

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are plotting a £200m spending spree…
Manchester United are planning to spend at least £200m on four new players this summer with Tottenham’s Eric Dier and Everton’s Romalu Lukaku among Jose Mourinho’s targets, according to the Times.
Mourinho is gearing-up for a busy summer after United booked their place in the group stages of the Champions League and it looks as though the Portuguese coach is already getting to work on strengthening his squad.
The Times are reporting today that Mourinho has told Ed Woodward that he wants to sign a central defender, a central midfielder and a forward while a new No.9 is also on the agenda as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out of contract and unlikely to be offered a new deal after rupturing knee ligaments.
Mourinho has his targets lined-up as the newspaper says United are closing-in on a £25m deal to re-sign Burnley defender Michael Keane just two years after Louis van Gaal sanctioned his £2m sale.
Keane is a product of the United youth academy and has developed in to a top centre-back during his time at Turf Moor, and his expected return to Old Trafford could see Chris Smalling depart this summer.
A new holding midfielder is required as Michael Carrick is out-of-contract and turns 36 in July and the Times claim that Mourinho has set his sights on Tottenham’s Eric Dier.
The 23-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to United in recent weeks and the report suggests that Dier is unhappy at not being regularly played in his preferred central midfield position at Spurs.
Dier has been mainly deployed in a back three by Mauricio Pochettino as Victor Wanyama is the preferred choice in the holding role so it seems Mourinho is ready to hand the England international the chance to play in his favoured position.
The Times say United will have to pay around £40m to prise Dier away from White Hart Lane but I think he’d be an excellent addition to their squad if they manage to persuade Tottenham in to doing a deal.
In the forward department, the newspaper unsurprisingly names Antoine Griezmann as Mourinho’s top target as the Red Devils look to push through a sensational £89m deal.
Griezmann has been strongly linked with United for some time and he sent the rumour mill in to overdrive yesterday after ‘liking’ Paul Pogba’s Instagram video where the midfielder hinted his compatriot would soon be joining him at Old Trafford.
The Times say United are still working hard to persuade Griezmann to swap Madrid for Manchester but it looks like the French international could be Mourinho’s marquee signing of the summer.
The final piece in the ‘Special One’s’ jigsaw is a new frontman and the newspaper says Romelu Lukaku is now a prime target after the Belgian international hit 25 goals for Everton last season.
Lukaku is expected to leave Goodison Park after snubbing a new contract but the Toffees aren’t prepared to sell on the cheap with valuations ranging from £80m to £100m being touted in the media.

So it looks like it’s going to be another busy summer of transfer activity at United and I’m sure the supporters would be delighted if Mourinho could pull off this proposed £200m swoop for Keane, Dier, Griezmann and Lukaku.
