Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ready to snub interest from Liverpool and commit himself to Arsenal by signing a new contract extension worth around £100,000-a-week, according to the Mirror.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future has been the subject of much debate in recent months as he’s about to enter the final year of his current contract and is yet to agree terms over a new deal at the Emirates.
Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for the 23-year-old with the Mirror claiming that Jurgen Klopp is desperate to lure the versatile midfielder to Anfield this summer.
The German coach is expected to be active in the transfer market as he looks to strengthen the Liverpool squad ahead of their return to the Champions League next season and Oxlade-Chamberlain would have been an excellent addition.
However, it looks like Klopp will have to move on to other targets as the Mirror claim that The Ox is ready to snub interest from Liverpool and commit himself to Arsenal by signing a new extension.
The newspaper says that negotiations have already begun over a new deal that will be worth at least £100,000-a-week and Arsenal are confident Oxlade-Chamberlain will put pen-to-paper within the next few weeks.
That would come as a welcome boost to Arsenal as Arsene Wenger is gearing-up for arguably the most important summer of his 21-year reign in north London with Oxlade-Chamberlain one of a several players about to enter the final year of their contracts.
The England international joined the Gunners from Southampton in 2011 heralded as one of the most exciting young talents in British football but he struggled to progress and his career appeared to be stagnating.
However, Oxlade-Chamberlain has become a key player for the Gunners in recent months having impressed in central midfield and wing-back roles with the youngster chipping in with 6 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season.
