President Confirms Arsenal Have Submitted Offer For £60m Striker
Lyon president Jean Michel-Aulas has confirmed Arsenal have made an offer for Alexandre Lacazette but it looks like they are ready to play hardball over a deal
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal have made an offer for Alexandre Lacazette…
Lyon president Jean Michel-Aulas has confirmed Arsenal have made an offer for striker Alexandre Lacazette but it looks like they are ready to play hardball over a deal, according to Football London.
Lacazette enhanced his reputation as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers after scoring 37 goals in all competitions last season and his form has led to interest from a number of top clubs.
The 26-year-old looked set for a move to Atletico Madrid but the proposed deal collapsed after the Spaniard’s transfer ban was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
That sparked fresh interest from Arsenal and Football London claim Lyon chief Michel-Aulas travelled to London recently to hold talks with Wenger about a potential deal.
The president has now confirmed that a ‘very nice’ offer from Arsenal is on the table, however, Aulas insists they no longer want to sell the striker this summer.
Speaking to the French media on Friday morning, Aulas is quoted by Football London as saying:
“Alexandre Lacazette was told he could leave,” he said. “We had negotiations with Atletico but things did not work out.
“We now have a very nice offer from Arsenal. But for us he will not leave.”
I don’t think Lyon have made a dramatic u-turn and are simply posturing to squeeze a better deal out of Arsenal with Football London suggesting they want around £60m for Lacazette’s signature.
There have been suggestions that Olivier Giroud could be used as part-exchange in any deal but big-money swap deals very rarely come to fruition as they are too complicated to pull off.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but now that Arsenal’s offer has been confirmed in public by Aulas, at least we know that Wenger is trying to bring in a top class striker this summer.

We desperately need to sign a 20+ goal per season striker if we’re to be genuine title contenders next season and Lacazette would be an excellent addition if we could get a deal agreed with Lyon.
