Arsenal Favourites But Liverpool & Man Utd Also In Talks To Sign £60m Hitman
Arsenal are in the driving seat to sign Alexandre Lacazette but Liverpool and Man Utd are among the clubs to have also held talks over the Lyon hitman
Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, more on the future of Alexandre Lacazette…
Arsenal remain in the driving seat to sign Alexandre Lacazette but face stiff competition as Liverpool and Manchester United are among the clubs to have also held talks over a deal to sign the Lyon hitman, according to a report by Football London.
Lacazette enhanced his reputation as one of the most prolific strikers in European football after scoring 37 goals in all competitions to help Lyon finish fourth in the Ligue 1 table last season.
The 26-year-old’s form has attracted interest from a number of top clubs this summer with Arsenal stepping-up their interest after Lacazette’s proposed move to Atletico Madrid collapsed earlier this month.
Football London reported last week that Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas was in London to hold talks over a possible £60m deal with Arsene Wenger and he was quoted as saying that the Gunners had put forward a ‘very interesting’ offer.
Wenger is in the market for a new world class striker to help turn Arsenal in to genuine title challengers and Lacazette would certainly add a real potent goal threat to their team if they were to get a deal agreed.
However, it looks like the north Londoners face some serious competition as Football London are now citing a report from L’Equipe that says although Arsenal remain the front runners, the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd are also in the running for his signature.
The French newspaper claims United are in constant contact with Lacazette’s agent as Jose Mourinho has lined him up as a possible alternative should their move for Alvaro Morata fall through.
Mourinho desperately needs to sign at least one top class striker after losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and United have the financial firepower to out-muscle practically any other club in the race if they moved for Lacazette.
Jurgen Klopp is also in the market for a new goal-scorer amid doubts over the future of Daniel Sturridge and L’Equipe claim Liverpool have also made contact to express their interest in signing the French international.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but while it seems Arsenal have the most concrete interest in Lacazette they are vulnerable as the likes of Liverpool and United are able to offer the striker Champions League football next season.

Lacazette has already suggested that ideally he’d like to be playing in Europe’s elite competition next season so Arsenal may want to try and push through a deal with Lyon asap before the likes of Liverpool or United gazump them.
