The draw for the last-16 of the Europa League has been conducted and Arsenal have been pitted against European heavy weights AC Milan.
We booked our place in the next phase of the competition with a 4-2 aggregate victory over Ostersunds despite suffering a shock second leg defeat at the Emirates last night.
Arsene Wenger’s men put one foot in the last-16 after winning the away leg 3-0 last week but despite an excellent performance by the Swedish minnows that saw them win 2-1 last night, we held on to secure our place in today’s draw.
We’ll now take on AC Milan for a place in the quarter finals after the Serie A giants eased past Ludogorets in the previous round of the competition.
It’s a difficult draw but I actually think we’re better off playing against the top teams as there is more chance of the players turning up for the game. We saw only last night what can happen when we take the opposition too lightly.
Wenger is expected to take the Europa League seriously from now on as it’s Arsenal’s best chance of getting back in to the Champions League next season with the club currently eight points adrift of the to four in the league so we should see our best side take on Milan.
The first leg will be at the San Siro on March 8th before we welcome them to the Emirates on the 15th for the decisive second leg.
